This year has been one for the books. As if a pandemic was not enough to drive people crazy and make them live in fear then most education centers and businesses got closed too. The country also experienced unprecedented racial strife. I felt the effects of all of it this year and attended a few protests in support of the change. It was such an overwhelming experience.
Protest Photography in Mansfield
Before being a photographer, I am a human and a responsible citizen of my country. I support justice and have great hopes for the future especially when people are finally becoming aware of the racial injustice in our country. I believe that the first step to solving a problem is to acknowledge it and only then we can make a change.
Below are images from a Black Lives Matter protest in Mansfield over the summer as well as a sit-in protest at Stonehill College this fall. I got some powerful images from the protest. It gave me strength and hope to see that the youth are more aware and ready to make things better for everyone around them.
These issues continue to be at the top of my mind and I hope my photos will encourage others to continue their journey to create a more just world for all of us.
