I’ve known Liz for a few years now—she takes my kickboxing class at the Foxboro YMCA. In fact, I knew Liz when she was pregnant with Myra, who is now two years old. It’s so wonderful to be able to photograph the baby and her big brother together!
I met with Liz and her mom, Dot, at Borderland State Park to photograph Kellen and Myra. We started out by running around in circles, and the Borderland rangers watched in amusement while the kids chased after me. We had a blast!
Next, we took a few photos in front of the mansion, using the posts to play peekaboo. I also had the kids pretend that the concrete was lava and that they had to stay on one spot to keep from melting. This worked well to keep them together and in one spot.
That’s what I love about photographing kids. I have to become a kid myself, and the whole session becomes playtime.
Finally, we went out back to the “jumping bench,” as I have come to call it, and I had the kids first seated and then standing. It’s always fun to have them do something that is usually against the rules. They get a mischievous glint in their eyes, and they cooperate famously! Next, we rolled down the hill, and I got some fun shots looking straight down at the kids in the grass.
This was a fantastic session and a great way to kick off the mini sessions of 2015. If you are interested in signing up, there are still spots available for THIS weekend! Click HERE to save your spot.
