Portrait FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is our first family portrait. How does it work?

First we set a date and choose a location. I can come to you or we can meet at a location of your choosing. You organize your family (I can help with clothing suggestions) and we meet for our session. During the session I will have everyone doing something fun in order to get real expressions. I often have kids jumping and running (I am very fast and they NEVER catch me!) After the session, I will post the images to my blog, Facebook and a proofing site from which you can order prints and products.

  • Do you have a list of locations we can choose from?

I will happily send you photos of various locations that fit your needs – big rocks and water, handicap accessible, big open fields, dog friendly beaches – I have been to all of them. If there is a spot you need that I have not yet experienced, I will find it.

  • Can my pet be in the photos?

ABSOLUTELY! I love animals and have photographed families with dogs, cats and rats.

  • How much experience do you have?

I began my photography business in 1998. In that time I have photographed countless families. I feel a little like the keeper of the visual history for my clients.

  • Do you shoot film or digital?

Digital. My primary camera is a Canon EOS 1D Mark II. I always have a backup camera, batteries, lenses, and flashes.

  • What is the timeline for receiving images and albums?

Your images are available two weeks after your session date. Albums are available three to six months after the date your album is ordered.

  • How long will the session take?

I offer mini sessions (30-45 minutes – great for babies and small families) and full sessions (1-2 hours great for big families).

  • When are you available?

Please visit the CONTACT page to check for availability. If you are interested in a portrait for holiday cards please book the session for October or November to allow time for printing.
